Monica tapped on her keyboard endlessly till it was late in the night.

She eventually packed her bags and headed for the closest restaurant around.

"I'll have just chips and a glass of juice." She said, as the waiter came around.

As she sipped from the juice, she thought of how horrible her day had been.

Danielle and Andrew fought so hard that Danielle broke a tooth and when she could realize what had happened, she was already late for work.

She couldn't leave her daughter who was in pain and she needed to discipline Andrew for going into a fight with his sister.

"She was eating my chocolates." She had heard him scream while she was angrily looking for a whip to descend on him.

"Just imagine", she muttered under her breath, angrily. "Just chocolates. That is why he wants to kill my daughter for me."

Just when she found the whip, her drunk husband walked in.

The anger welled up in her especially when she remembered how drunk he was the previous day and how he had almost beaten her for not preparing his favourite meal.

Who would prepare a favourite meal for one who doesn't bring any Kobo to the house?

She hissed at him and while imagining how unfortunate she had been, she ran into the bathroom to prepare herself for work. She was late already and her boss had promised to give her a sack letter if she came late again.

She drove off to work, leaving Andrew and Danielle in the hands of their father. She knew he was drunk but that was the last thing on her mind.

"Mother, can I come over to your place and stay there for sometime?"

She had phoned her mother while she was driving to work and explained everything that was going on with her.

"Monica, dear. I'm so sorry you can't. We have some people here already and there isn't any space left for you." The mother had replied over the phone.

She checked the time and it was already late, she needed to go home. But, home was the last thing on her mind. So, she returned to her thoughts.

She got to work so late and after pleading with her boss, he pardoned her. He had asked her what was wrong with her and the only reply she gave was; 'I'm very fine, Sir. I've just been stressed, lately."

She thought of how she messed up at her presentation at work and how the members of staff were all unhappy at her display.

"I am a failed being!" She said to herself with her hands on her head.

She had sipped off the contents in the cup and after settling the bills, she walked to her car and drove off, not to home, but to where she didn't know. She just wanted to be away from everyone.

Hopefully, she'd return by tomorrow morning...

But, what if she got into danger?
