I read a lot lately that one of the benefits that HF21 will bring is the free downvotes.
I have a confession to make: I haven't downvoted a single post / comment during my 18 months of presence on steem. Well that's a lie, once I accidentally downvoted a comment while I was browsing from my phone and as soon I realized what I did, I removed the flag and upvoted it at 100% even though it was pretty much a shitty comment...if you know what I mean.
But that's just me...It just doesn't feel right to me...
I know that there are posts and comments that deserve to get flagged as fuck and whose authors reputation should be sent below zero. I just can't do it...I am really glad there are people out there (like @whatsup) who are comfortable enough to downvote stuff that from her point of view deserve to be flagged. And she's been doing that quite for some time now and thumbs up for that behavior sis.
It's not that I choose to look the other way or that I don't care about the reward pool that is being raped, nor that I am afraid some sort of retaliation and such...I just can't.
I have had many conversations on and off chain lately, with people who stated that their overall "voting" behavior won't change with the upcoming HF. People who were just like me... yet, those very same people seem to be really excited about the fact that those downvotes will now be "free"
So I have a question to make.
What exactly was stopping you from flagging up until now?
The obvious answer is...NOTHING. Or is it maybe because it wasn't "free"?
Right...why waste some precious VP only to downvote a fucker while I can reward this or that author whose content is great instead?
There are bot abusers...plagiarists...scammers...out there, now as I am writing these lines, yet the usual suspects such as @whatsup and a few others are doing the dirty job...and I salute that behavior again. Tbh I wish there was a mechanism so that people who find it hard to downvote others could pass those "free" downvotes to others who can and who are willing too.
You know that you have the benefit of a free downvote right now if you cast that vote via palnet.io, right?
PS. Believe it or not, I still haven't found a post that deserves to get flagged when I am browsing through palnet.
Can you guess why?
