They tell me it’s summer,
but I’m still cold
from a few seasons ago,
I think I broke the answering machine
by replaying messages
too many times
in too less time

Everything they tell me
about seasons,
I think it stands true
for people too.

Seasons change;
the same season is still
not the same every time it arrives;
seasons can linger like a feeling;
you cannot be in all seasons
at the same time

They tell me it’s winter now,
and I laugh,
“Hasn’t it always been so?”
