It is still not easy-peasy to be your own "decentralized banker".

This article is about how I - as a relative newbie - managed to fund additional #SPS Splintershards for staking in-game on my #Splinterlands account, in anticipation of future staking rewards and further investments in one of the coolest and most profitable games of the decade.

Afterward, I will be buying #HIVE, swapping them to SWAP.HIVE in order to be purchasing #DEC Dark Energy Crystals for keeping on my account in-game (or keeping in my Hive-Keychain wallet) in order to get more airdropped #Splintershards over the next approximately 360 days.

But back to the Buying and transferring #SPS Splintershards story.

  1. I had some Algorand in a wallet, that I transferred to Gate.io in order to purchase USDT for Algorand, which I then did.

  2. I then Purchased Splintershards for USDT.

  3. Now I Realised that you need BNB (that I did not have) for gas fees when transferring Splintershards from MetaMask (Gate.io to Metamask and then claimed from in-game), which is needed a bit further down the list.

  1. Now I realized that I did not have enough small change for BNB, so I purchased Bitcoin for some Polkadot and some Algorand I had lying around in order to be able to purchase BNB (for gas fees) for Bitcoin.

  1. Finally I could Transfer my Splintershards from Gate.io to Metamask - but remembered to create the SPS Token in the wallet first, so it would be visible. This part was done because my son had tried something similar on Axie (tsk, tsk) and could tell me it was needed.
  2. NOW I could move in-game and make sure my Splintelands account was connected to the Binance Smart Chain Metamask. When successful, I could see the Splintershards and claim them for the game, so they could be staked.

It was after this operation that it occurred to me that it might be an even better asset placement, to store more #DEC Dark Energy Crystals, the reason being that Dark Energy Crystals get Airdropped #SPS Splintershards in a favorable manner.

So I went and found some more Algorand that I had lying around in an interest-bearing wallet, transferred and sold them for #HIVE on Binance, transferred #HIVE to my Hive-Keychain wallet. From here I swapped them to SWAP.HIVE by depositing them to the HIVE-engine market, where I could trade the SWAP.HIVE for #DEC Dark Energy Crystals.

The Dark Energy Crystals can now sit quietly and await further investments incoming card releases, land accessories, or the likes.

There are two major considerations for the coming years:

  1. The amount of #SPS Splintershards earned while assets are placed will have to be staked - most likely on me, other players, and thirdly in the game in general.
  2. Further investments in the game will be made in either #DEC Dark Energy Crystals or USD via CRED in-game depending on the current value of DECS at the time of investment. If Payments are made via CRED, then DEC will be sold to cover.
