The video below is a one minute super compressed version of one of my lectures from class. I'm sure plenty of you play games, but if you're not familiar with the process of how game assets are created, here's a sneak peek.
My class is short so to do a full asset from beginning to end I have to do really simple objects. This time around it was an old wooden barrel. I modeled in in Autodesk Maya and textured it in Substance Painter. I think from start to finish it took a little over an hour. So this video is about a minute a second haha.
Not sure if anyone is interested in this stuff, but I'm a geek for behind the scenes sort of content. I've always liked looking at how visual effects in movies or animation, or games were made, that's probably what pushed me down this career path.
I could explain how it all works, but even my students have a hard time staying awake for my technical explanations, so maybe I'll just leave you guys the cliffnotes/video.
