Why are we so obsessed with Contests? Why are we so obsessed with winning?
On Steemit, as in real day-to-day life, there are many different contests to attract and satisfy the wants and desires of many Steemians. I admit that I am attracted to some of them and I have to ask myself why? At the beginning it was because I wanted to win. Winning was most important. When I won it created a feeling of euphoria within me. It was like a high. The winnings/money/SBD were always also nice and appreciated, but were secondary. I think I was a candidate for "Contests Anonymous".
However, after entering many contests I have come away with a different attitude; especially the contests that ask for a creative entry. I like being creative. Being creative in itself, is very stimulating. If I feel good about what I have done, then I don't "need" to win. Win or lose, I just feel good. That is now most important. Feeling good. Feeling satisfied. Being Happy. Then I feel like a winner!

Addendum: To make this more clear - I do like to win. And when I enter a contest I do try to win. It's just that the obsessiveness to winning is gone.
