On Steemit, as in real day-to-day life, there are many different contests to attract and satisfy the wants and desires of many Steemians. I admit that I am attracted to some of them and I have to ask myself why? At the beginning it was because I wanted to win. Winning was most important. When I won it created a feeling of euphoria within me. It was like a high. The winnings/money/SBD were always also nice and appreciated, but were secondary. I think I was a candidate for "Contests Anonymous".
Addendum: To make this more clear - I do like to win. And when I enter a contest I do try to win. It's just that the obsessiveness to winning is gone.
P.S. I do apologize to those who came here looking to enter a contest. I don't sponsor them but I still do enter some.
