From a tower window in Nottingham Castle, two men stared down into the moonlit courtyard.
The left guard by the name Peter spat down and watched the trajectory of his spit until it reached the floor of the courtyard.

“How many yards down do you think you’d fly if you be pierced with an arrow and killed, Billie?” he yawned.

“I won’t know for I won’t be killed,” Billie sled down his hands along with his chain mail shirts that covered his entire body until their knees and went down their shoulders until forearms.

“I bet you I’d pierce it if I were to shoot an arrow in you from a 100-yard distance.”

“You won’t. Look how small the rigs are. They are made from a good armored iron, not like your cheap imitation. Cost my father a fortune.”

“Did your dad buy you this chain mail? That’s pretty generous of him.”

“That’s the least he could have done as you know the entire estate will go to my brother John.”

“Did he also bought you this sward?”

“No this is our family heirloom. It’s been there for at least 50 years and participated in many battles.”

“So if you are so well equipped, why are you here a guard in Nottingham rather than going with Richard to Palestine?”

“Richard will most of his people killed. I heard him speak before his voyage. He doesn’t care about us English nobles. ”

“What did he say?”

“I poorly understood him as he spoke in French.”

“Richard spoke in French. Yes, his English is terrible. He can barely utter a couple of English words. All England for him is a piggy bank. I’d rather serve the Sheriff of Nottingham and bring to justice this Robert Locksley. Imagine! He betrayed his covenants with the king got tangled with yeomen and commoners and organized a gang in Sherwood Forest! He robs and killed respectable people: nobleman and merchants and divides all the money with all his vagabonds!”

“I am with you on that chap. He needs to be captured and executed.” Peter spat one more time down and said “When will finally our shift be over. I am hungry as a dog!”
