Sometimes we find that we can teach small children in interesting ways.
Here we are going to see how the light bulb was discovered.
It will tell us about Thomas Edison who made the first real light bulb.
It was not easy but because he kept on trying he succeeded, and that is very good for us.
Before the light bulb they used to use candles.
This worked as one could see around you when it was dark.
Unfortunately this did not give off so much light and it was not safe.
It could be that lots of fires started because of candles and that was not good.
Thomas went to school but he was a very inquisitive child and was forever trying to make things while his mother was watching him.
In the end after trying many times to get the light bulb to work he did succeed.
Maybe one of you also has ideas you want to use to make something in the world that we need.
So if you do just remember it does not always work the first time but we must keep trying until we find what we are trying to invent.
