Steps around emergency ward. My Actifit Report Card: December 25 2022
The day was supposed to be more about sitting than walking. But I have ended up with 25k steps (sorry my esteemed @macfit Super League rivals….). 15k were made around a hospital… How come?
I gave my Dad a ride to his church in the morning. We arrived early and there was a lady with a napkin against her forehead. She had felt dizzy earlier and fallen, hitting a table with her forehead and cutting it badly. I mean her forehead, not the table.
Although she said she was alright, the cut looked a deep one so I decided to take her to an emergency. I thought it would quicker to get her there rather than wait for an ambulance. We drove in my car - easy 10 minutes ride across an empty city. The immediate help was offered very quickly but then we needed to wait...
...for a doctor (needed to check her head)
...for an x-ray (prescribed by the surgeon)
...and finally for the paperwork.
In the meantime a few ambulances came and we learnt the hard way that a patient brought by an ambulance has priority over those who can walk in themselves
All took… almost 4 hours and over 15k steps.
I wasn’t really welcomed in the emergency ward - and in fact I didn't fancy sitting there with a face mask on - I went outside and started walking around. First around the ward, then I circled the hospital complex several times and finally went for a walk around the whole neighborhood.
Long story short, the lady is ok - well with some stitches on her forehead. She thanked me for my patience - but I don’t mind, as I got quite a high number of steps and the weather was very pleasant. Otherwise I would have sat all morning in the church. And then some more sitting at the table over their Christmas cakes...
Always look at the bright side of life and stay #AlivveAndThriving
