I am a strange person and so my birthday party cannot be normal either. I don’t invite anyone - I post an announcement as Facebook event. A café is booked and time given. Flowers, birthday cards, sweets and other traditional presents are forbidden. Prior to the party, I prepare a photo album with some 50 pictures from my previous year of life. Then I ask my guests to write down their wishes on the margins of my album. This year marks my 5th photo book. Much better than birthday cards.
I sit at a table and cherish every guest who comes. Last year I had over 20 guests, some really surprised me. This year, I had to organise the party one week after my actual birthday. This probably caused fewer guests. Anyhow, I enjoyed the time spent with those who did come.
