Love is better than anger. My Actifit Report Card: April 4 2022
The king who in XIV century had given city rights to my town, finally got a monument. He sits in front of our library, with a chronicle on his lap.
I want to drop a few words on love vs anger. When I got in the evening to the shelter for refugees at our church, there was a big commotion. One boy, 8-yes old Matviy, infamous for being rowdy and unruly, had hidden outside, behind containers for rubbish. Quite cold, but he was only in a t-shirt. His Mom and other women had tried in vain to get him back. When I came, one of the women asked me for help.
I went to the containers, knelt down and calmly talked with Matviy. I speak some Russian, but not enough for a complex conversation. So I kept it simple.
- “It’s cold here, you are hiding in rubbish, why not come inside?” - He said „they had expelled me”.
I guess he had done yet another prank or had fought with other boys and someone in frustration said “get out”. I told him I would speak to whoever expelled him, reached and got him out. I gave him a strong hug, high five, said “Ty molodec” and problem solved.
You have to know that I don’t have children so I am not experienced in dealing with unruly 8-yrs old boys. Great lesson - love and understanding do the trick better than anger and shouting. Parents - take note and stay #AliveAndThriving
