It is not just Flamenco, Andalusia is more than that. Even before the Muslims conquered Southern Spain, they already have a rich cultural history during the Roman invasion.
The Romans left great influences in the Iberian Peninsula such as Architecture which can still be seen scattered in various places. After the Romans, the Moorish ruled for about 800 years and they have left not only a rich culture but also historical heritages such as the Mosque in Cordoba and the Alhambra de Granada.

We live in Andalusia since more than two decades now after discovering the Canary Islands to be overpriced as far as real properties were concerned. We lived there for almost a year to see how life was in the island of Tenerife. Water is scarce because they have to bring this from the mainland. So everything was or is expensive.
Before Spain, we also travelled to Malta and then lived for a while in Cyprus to search for properties. Then we decided to try our luck in the Iberian Peninsula and found a property. Since then, we call Spain, our second home country. It is not far away from Central Europe with just 3 hours flight from Vienna. We have a 2nd home there in rural inland in a town called Torrox.
The rural life inland is slow, most of the locals are farmers and have their Finca to come to on weekends to cultivate their land , have livestock and grow fruit trees mostly olive for their own consumption. The town is divided into two which is the Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo. The Pueblo is a whitewashed village where the Town Hall is located and is about 2 kilometers to the coast.
Since retirement, we stay in Andalusia almost 4 months each year to escape the cold winter in Central Europe. We have friends there with different nationalities. The Germans came in the 70´s then followed by the Scandinavians and the British. The town is also dependent on tourism. Every Summer, the coast is crowded with tourists. Most stores have sales personnel that speak german and english.
Most people who came to live here are from the North and Central Europe. Even the Russians are also liking to live here and they are becoming large in numbers. Majority of the tourists are retired who spend their winter away from their homes. The sun shines almost everyday and the temperatures are mild with an average of 18°C in winter. The coast had been modernized for the tourists and hotels as well as Bed and Breakfast are also available. You can have everything you need about food, sun and the sea.
There are many sport activities and sometimes when the sea is harsh, the kiters and surfers come. The coast of Torrox has 9 Km and there are about 7 - 8 beaches some are even hidden and are tipped to be secret hideaway.
