Second Valley is a small town in the Fleurieu Peninsula. Its name comes from the discovery of the nearest valley, Rapid Bay. Second Valley is a well-known tourist attraction and is a major destination around the Fleurieu Peninsula, on the way to Kangaroo Island from the city. The town locations are surrounded by rolling hills and farmlands, towards the edge with coastline and beach. Second Valley scapes are stunning with landscape and coastal views, as surrounded by both coastal and landscape photography.
The bluish water with the jetty offers a great scenic view of the cliffs and the beach. This time, the rocks along the coastline look beautiful, with waves crashing against the cliff. You could enjoy the rolling hills in the background, filled with sheep and greenery, while you walk around the jetty with a fresh breeze and seagulls flying above you. I see a lot of tourists taking a spot and hiking around the valley.
It's not just that; if you find yourself in a walking mood and explore the town, you can actually do that by parking your car at Leonards Mill, located right at the entry point of Second Valley. This would give you time with scenic views, which is the background from the Jetty. Also, there are many historic sites throughout the valley. This is something to keep on the checklist.
The cliff that you're seeing is actually hikeable. And so I did and went to the top for the best view of the valley. It was worth the hike, as the coastline looks very cinematic while you stand in a portion of the rolling hills. I call it cinematic because of the hills, the jetty, and all the colors bursting out from the ocean, which truly look like a cinematic frame from the hilltop. If you have a camping chair and some hot tea or coffee, take it with you to take a break in a scenic landscape.
One can go beyond this point to Rapid Bay. But the rolling hills look like never-ending scapes around the valley, so it was the last stop. There are lots of hospitality centres, and the sea excursions and cruises as well in the area, including scuba diving as the most famous. The parking space near the jetty keeps the convenience of roaming around the valley.
This is one of the most recommendable tourist towns for me to anyone traveling to the South or to Fleurieu Peninsula. Also, the caravan stay space puts one with long-travelers in a good position to be around the valley. The place comes alive with a clear sky in winter, which I had never traveled during this part of the year. September and October are the best time here, so I had only been to the South during this time, opposing the winter. But the best time of the year I could call July for the Fleurieu if you are driving and living in South Australia.
