Books, books, books.... A Paradise

I visited this Carla Thrift Shop at the 21st District many times until they moved to another building, they have built a huge area for books, all kinds of books! The Thrift shop is located in my former district and I was in awe because it is a paradise for bookworms where they really got so plenty that one would scour all categories and spent hours and hours going through all the titles. Some of these books came from the District Library that upgraded their inventory because of new book arrivals. They were all categorized according to topics.

My favorites are those about Architecture, History, Archeology, Cooking, Decorating, Animals, Nature, Gardening , DIY tutorials, Crafting, Novels, Short stories, as well as poetry and many more. I got this book below which shows about the famous people and how they arranged their private library.

The prices of the books vary, depending on their quality. Hardbound books cost around 5 Euros, some cooking books for instance cost around 3-5 Euros depending on how thick they are.

There is a siting area where one can sit down and review the books.
There are also many pocketbooks, some even new ones for a price of 1 Euro (below shelves).

There is also the category of books in English.... Of course, almost all books are in German.

My chosen books...
...are mostly cookbooks. I have many at home but I am always on the lookout for interesting recipes from some other cultures.

I was gifted with a Pasta maker and when I visited the Thrift Shop, I was on the lookout for some recipe books on noodles.

One of the things I would love to learn is to make a crispy brown bread and that I found in this book. I know the hardship of kneading the dough and bread making requires a lot of patience.

This Greek Cookbook below is also a favorite, it has easy to cook recipes and the results are absolutely scrumptious food.

I Love Decorating Books!

They are my inspiration when making projects such as curtains, quilts and many things to adorn my home. The style that I love most is the English country. Just by looking at the images on the books, I conceptualize my project and have ideas for the materials that I need to get.

We used to live in a rowhouse with garden and I have had many book shelves where I could store my book collection. But we have to give life priorities as we age (LOL!) and that includes less stress of cleaning a big house and spending money to have it cleaned as well as trimming trees in the garden.

So my dear readers, we moved to a smaller one level flat with just two bedrooms about a year ago and I am very happy that it does not have stairs because of my heel spurs. I have decorated my comfort room, added book shelves for some of my books (lack of space for them) and decorated the walls with pictures. My brother once said, if ever I would visit the toilet, I might not be able to come out anymore because of the books, lol.

Now I am happy even if I have to dust all of them, I am now a retiree, remember?!
