THE PINCUSHION

Happy Needlework Monday Everyone!

I hope all are doing good...there has been many countries easing the lockdown period, but we have to be careful and take precautions.

The project I am sharing today is a pincushion I did while watching a two hour movie and I did this in one sitting. I used 3 different shades of cotton thread and a 2.5 cm hook.

I crocheted this as I go, there is no pattern and the stitches as you can see are very simple.

The style of the square is that of a granny square. I used cotton balls to make the fillings. First I sew a square pocket that is a bit smaller than the finished pincushion, inserted the fillings and closed it .

When I finished both front and back sides of the pincushion, I attached both sides both by crocheting them together thru a simple stitch.

I crocheted the edges until 2 rows and in the last edge, I used the light green thread and made picots all over so it would look dainty.

I opt for projects like this and I simply choose something I can finish in-one-sitting. I tend to like smaller needlework these days. Otherwise if I start a bigger one, I knew it will become a work in process for a long time.
