I've written about music countless times and I'll keep writing about them because I don't get tired of listening to them or even updating myself with new songs. And I'll keep writing about them because they hold memories for me especially the ones I'll share on this post.
Having favourite music isn't my thing because every music has it's own message and meaning to me. But thinking in an attempt to answer the weekend-engagement prompt, I found out I have two songs that are unconsciously my favourites... Maybe there is more than two of them but these two came to mind first.
These two songs may not be known to many but they hold memories that when I think back to, makes me smile and feel good about my past.
Breathless was released about 12 years ago, around the time I was at the age of 12 (if I remember correctly). I was in school and was one of the brilliant ones in class. As positive attracts positive (I think I'm correct with that lol) I got attracted to a brilliant boy in my class, he actually got attracted to me top or so I thought.
We were best of friends then, we would read together when we're at school break since we never met outside school, we would write our tests and exams together and we would play our brain games together, we never mingled too much with other kids, we just enjoyed our company.
Here is where this memorable music comes in, I had a crush on him
We found the music very calming and suitable for study time so it was plugged to our ears while we studied together. He would sneak his mobile phone from the house and we would sneak to a quiet place to study while we listened to the music.
The lyrics may not had match with the feeling we got from the song to study but I started to grow love feelings for him because we got close to each other listening to the song. I wanted our study time to be every time so I could be with him all the time.
Well, to cut long story short... I never got to confess my feelings to him because I thought it would ruin our friendship. My dad changed my school and I couldn't say a proper goodbye to him... It ended that way and I only had the song to keep his memories in my heart.
While I was with him, he helped me improve and we build memories together.
While I wasn't with him, he changed me with the music he showed me.
11 years old but whenever I listen to this song, I feel like I m reliving my childhood memories over and over again. I got to love this song through my dad, well there's a story behind it. He would actually played the collection of their songs but I noticed how he played this particular one on a repeat.
Dad has always been a lover of music but I noticed the love for music grew stronger after what happened to him. He loves to explore new kinds of music but he hardly played a new kind after he found out about westlife songs.
Mum left, dad picked up a new music habit and I got attached to it too.
And that is westlife songs release to be specific. The songs made him feel better or maybe that was what I thought. He would play the collections and we would sing along with it happily like we can't do without the song.
I'm refusing to think that mum liked the song before for him to love it while she was away, but maybe that was it or maybe not. It became my favourite too and I would listen to it even when he isn't at home to enjoy it more than I did then.
The memories the song gives me is of the time mum left so I can't say it's a good memory but the song can't seem to leave my mind whenever I listen to it. It means a lot to my dad and I and even to my siblings, the song was an extra companion for us and we appreciated it for that.
A sweet memory music (Breathless) and a not so sweet memory music (My Love) but has kept me going on and living life better and better.
Thanks to @galenkp for coming up with this prompt, it means a lot more than any can imagine. And congrats for the dynamic and interesting weekened-engagement prompts for two years, it's not easy but YOU MADE IT TO TWO YEARS AND STILL COUNTING... CONGRATS!!!
Thanks for reading!!!
