I'm no music producer and barely a composer but I know it when my ears are blessed with good music and I think that's a good skill to have as a music lover. All my life, I've listened to a lot of music. While I love some for a long time, some wouldn't get a minute of my time to listen to the end.
Good music doesn't have to be perfect, it just have to be perfect at the time of listening to it depending on the genre, lyrics, melody, beat or feeling the listener is having when listening to it.
With that in mind, I'd say the music of old were more of good music compared to now.

I won't say there are not many music I enjoy now but then, I can still feel the joy and excitement I get whenever I remember and sing songs from old. My dad is a music lover so our house was filled with music from his own time, he would play them over and over that I grew up learning them unconsciously.
Music from Westlife, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Witney Houston and a lot of others are legends to me. I'm yet to see music from now that are as good as theirs. This is not me saying the musicians of nowadays aren't doing great, it is just me appreciating what I listened to growing up.
The recent release in the music industry seem to be like music is a play thing to joke around with, they just come up with some sounds and lyrics then combine to form music and it spreads like fire as if we've all forgotten what real music sounds like.
One time, I heard a song talking about how comforting Alcohol is, and why it is better to not spend money on your family but on alcohol or girls... I mean, some song lyrics are annoying. Surprisingly, some of these songs with annoying lyrics are the ones that go viral and people joke about it.
I love to sing and if possible mimick musicians on their songs but my brain and heart never does that when I'm sure the song isn't following criteria I love especially wit the lyrics and sounds. I'm not a fan of music that has too much instrumentals with little or no lyrics, because I love to think of a meaning while I listen to music.
Music of nowadays seem to be about that more but of course, there are the ones that are amazing and are going on the path a lot of the others in the old took. I think I would love and appreciate remakes of old songs to be released today with the voices I hear now.
There are so many beautiful talents in music now but some songs are just not supposed to be done. If these beautiful talents will go back to the old ways of music, giving feelings and all the good touches music should have... It might even surpass what we heard in the old.
Music will keep evolving and we can only hope it doesn't get bad but get even better with ever new talent found. Music is life, we shouldn't lose that essence.
