CANARD
Once again, lunch time came and the hens were gathered around the water cooler with their everyday stories of tall tales and one-upmanship.
Carla was embarrassed for them because they were completely unaware how foolish their ridiculous canards sounded.
If Ruth had a cold, Carrie had the flu. If Martha mentioned the terrible scar from surgery, then Diane would say she nearly died during her surgery.
How sad and pathetic.
The idea of trying to outdo a hardship or terrible experience seemed ludicrous yet they couldn't seem to help themselves. Carla didn't want to be bothered with that mess.
