🎙️ Tomorrow on Hive Thrive we'll be joined by
🎙️ What we’ll talk about is Blocktunes, of course!!!
What is Blocktunes you ask?
BlockTunes is a music streaming platform built on Hive that combines social features with on-chain ownership. Rather than simply streaming songs, the platform allows artists to mint "Masters" for their tracks, giving fans the opportunity to own a stake in a song and receive a share of qualifying streaming rewards.
Some of the major ideas behind the platform:
- Independent artists keep control of their music.
- Fans can financially participate in an artist's success by owning Masters.
- Streaming rewards are distributed automatically on-chain.
- The platform includes a social layer ("Bars") where posts, discussions, tips, and reposts are written directly to the Hive blockchain.
One interesting recent development is that the team has been moving away from relying on Hive-Engine for ownership records. They've begun implementing their own native Hive custom JSON protocol for Masters, making ownership and transfers live directly on Hive Layer 1 instead of depending on third-party infrastructure. But I'll leave the dude to tell us all about those moves.
Come hang out with us
Hive Thrive isn’t meant to be just another background podcast.
We treat it like a live town hall for the blockchain —
• a place where devs, witnesses, curators, creators, and critics can speak in the same room
• a space to explore the tools, tensions, and governance structures actually shaping Hive
• a setting for honest conversation
We’re here to —
✅ Help people understand what’s actually happening behind the scenes
✅ Surface the real stories behind Hive’s institutions and projects
✅ Talk openly about drama, governance friction, and systemic issues
✅ Look for ways forward that strengthen the network instead of dividing it
