I went out for a while this morning to get a few photos for today's post, and it was such a dark and dreary day that I was not happy with the photos that I took.
So instead I decided to step back in time and show photos that were taken at Old World Wisconsin at the German/Pomeranian homestead.
I always find these living history museums fascinating. I can imagine that I'm stepping into my ancestors way of life and can hear the stories that my grandfather used to tell of his family's life as German immigrants in Wisconsin during the the 1800's.
There is a wonderful garden, and the outhouse could not have a more picturesque setting!
This old cider press would have been getting a workout at this time of year as the apples were being picked.
And working to store the garden produce so that there was food for the coming winter, filled lots of hours during the day.
It's nice to think about this way of life and all these skills being continued today on homesteads all around the world.
