My very first owl photo!

I hear them around sometimes during the night. And occasionally after dark you might see a shadowy form cross the road, but this was the first time I saw an owl during the day time and was able to take a photo. 3ii8fp4kpl.jpg

I would never have spotted him except that he flew from a tree that I was near and I went to the area he flew towards to see if I could find what type of big bird it was. I was expecting to find a hawk.
I was quite thrilled to see this great horned owl sitting in this dead ash tree

Great Horned owls have a wingspan of 91 to 153 cm(3 ft 0 in to 5 ft 0 in) They hunt at night and eat mostly small mammals and reptiles and they eat some birds up to the size of geese and ducks.

I'm still quite excited that I had an opportunity to take these photos!

I'm looking forward to seeing your #featheredfriday birds!
