I’ve been reading a few posts on here recently and am pretty impressed by some of the content currently coming out of Steemit. I find myself getting jealous because I’m like ‘Why didn’t I think about writing that?’
It’s crazy to see how much money some people make off of one post. But then when you go in and actually read it, you understand why. The posts are full of information, facts, and are generally just interesting. Plus they’re really really long.
It’s easy to tell the amount of effort that goes into writing these posts and the creators definitely deserve the money.
While I was reading these posts and looking at how much certain people are earning, it didn’t make me feel like I had to change my way blogging. Everyone blogs for different purposes and I do it because it makes me happy. Writing is something I love to do and being paid is just a bonus.
At the moment I don’t get a lot of money for my posts, but I’m more than ok with that. My end goal is to financially support myself through writing. Whether that be on Steemit or writing novels, that’s the dream. A big dream but it’s not impossible. It’ll take time but I’m patient.
Maybe that’s why I’m getting jealous of these people who’re successful on Steemit, because they have what I crave. I’d love to write long interesting posts about everything and anything, but I just don’t have the time. I just wish I could spend my days writing. I know comparing myself to others won’t help, but it’s in ones nature to compare.
What annoys me though, are the people who’ve come to Steemit just for money. There’s SO many bots around and some very average posts from people who just don’t care. I get a lot of messages asking me to ‘follow for a follow’ and stuff like that. When I first started I really put a lot of effort into it. I made friends like 
I’m still growing it of course, but thanks to a lot of these people I’ve managed to do it the ‘right way.’ I didn’t bother people and message them until they followed me, because what does that do? Yeah you may have 1000 followers but how many of them actually read or appreciate your posts? I’ve seen so many people with thousands of followers with very little upvotes. Then I’ve seen others with thousands of followers who could easily make a living off of Steemit. So maybe try and make friends instead of messaging everyone in sight. Let people find you. It may take a long time but it’ll be worth it in the end.
