Is anyone else quiet at work? I mean, I’m a receptionist so I can’t be too quiet but I’m always reserved while I’m working. I should be that super outgoing, bubbly receptionist who everyone adores, but I don’t think that I am.
That’s how I know I’m not right for this job. Maybe no one else notices it, but I definitely do. I feel out of place here and I only feel comfortable when everyone’s gone home for the day and I’m alone. Maybe I’m just not a people person.
I’m in this job because I desperately needed money, even after saying I’d never be a receptionist again. Don’t get me wrong, I like my job I just don’t love it. I’m not one of those moody receptionists either, I’m always polite & kind to the residents (I work at an old people’s home).
I just always feel out of place, especially with my co-workers. It might be because they’re all my mums age or it might be because of me and the way I am. Being a reserved person isn’t so fun when everyone around you is outgoing. I try to fit in with them but I always feeling like I’m fighting a losing battle.
I’m at my best when I’m writing. It’s when I feel the most happiest and calm. I write a lot while I’m at work as I’m here from 9-5:30pm and I have a lot of boring hours to spare. I love it when I’m alone as I don’t have any distractions (apart from the phone or if someone comes to Reception.)
I hope one day I can write professionally and do this as a full time job. A lot of writers dream and dream but it never happens. You all should know by now that I’m a dreamer, not a realist. I dream until I can’t dream any longer (which is never). I’ve been told by my family, boyfriend, friends, to get my head out of the clouds. But, I kind of like it up here. If dreaming makes me or anyone else feel happy then why do people constantly put them down for it?
Dreams do come true. It might not even be the biggest dream in the world, it doesn’t have to be. My roommate/ex-boyfriend had always dreamed that he’d meet his dad one day. Yesterday, he did. When I was younger I dreamed of going to Disney World, last year I did. Dreams might not come true when you want them too, they can take their time. I guess the most important thing is to never stop dreaming, I for sure never will.
It’s funny how my posts can start off on one topic and end on another.
Until next time,
Meliss
