Hello Guys!
I hope you are all doing very well. Today I am going to share some pictures of Ghent that I took while I was traveling in Belgium during Christmas time in 2016. I arrived in Ghent from Brussels by train. The trip took me 30 minutes and costed $6. Ghent is small and pretty city. So far, it is my favorite city in Belgium. Since there is an university, you might see a lot of young people around the city and might hear the funny story of "The Big Cannon". If you visit Belgium some day, you should go to Ghent.

I suggest you to join in the free walking tour of Ghent. Guides are pretty good and when I was there, they were doing tours in English and Spanish. If you go straight from where I took the picture, you will reach "Kronmarkt" where we can call city center. After you get to city center, you just need to let your heart decide the way. This small city will show you its pretty face in each street you walk.

As long as you walk, you will realize how historical city Ghent is. There are many historical buildings around Ghent and they are still serving as hotels, restaurants and gift shops. I am so happy that Ghent has mananed to save them until today. While walking, you will realize one more thing. On the riverside, all buildings were built bent. The reason of this is logical and funny at the same time. They just built those buildings bent to be able to pull their goods up easily. In the history, Ghent was an important trade city.

I am going to end this post with a picture of Saint Nicolas Church that is located in the middle of city center. It was built in gothic architecture style, and is one the most beautiful examples of it. I hope you enjoyed the post.
