[En/Esp] SketchBook Chapter 10: Hakini-The Mentalist

Hello, my dear creative aliens!
Another new creature has emerged from the depths of my cerebral universe for chapter number 10 of my little art book.

Hola, mis queridos aliens creativos!
Otra nueva criatura ha emergido desde las profundidades de mi universo cerebral para el capítulo número 10 de mi pequeño libro de arte.

I don't remember exactly how this quantum and cosmic creature was born? It simply emerged without so much preamble, although i had some doubts or rather fears or insecurities because it had those masculine features which i don't master when drawing or i simply feared it would turn out to be a disaster, but without realizing it, it emerged just like a kind of space specter, i immediately felt the need to draw some mudra on its hands.

No recuerdo exactamente cómo nació esta criatura cuántica y cósmica... Simplemente surgió sin tanto preámbulo, aunque tuve algunas dudas o mas bien miedos o inseguridades porque tenía esos rasgos masculinos los cuales no domino al dibujar o simplemente temía que resultara siendo un desastre, pero sin darme cuenta emergió sin más, como una especie de espectro espacial, inmediatamente sentí la necesidad de dibujarle algún mudra en sus manos.

I chose HAKINI MUDRA. The mudra of power and mental clarity. A mudra used in meditation to balance the brain hemispheres, enhance concentration and memory. It is also used therapeutically for anxiety and depression. The third eye mudra.

Escogí el llamado HAKINI MUDRA. El mudra del poder y la claridad mental. Un mudra usado en meditación para equilibrar los hemisferios cerebrales, potenciar la concentración y la memoria. También es usado de forma terapéutica para casos de ansiedad y depresión. El mudra del tercer ojo.

I mainly used calibrated ink pens and only a couple of shades of alcohol markers and acrylics for small color details.

Principalmente usé bolígrafos de tinta calibrados y solo un par de tonos de marcadores de alcohol y acrílicos para pequeños detalles a color.

At this point i had my doubts about adding color, the truth is that i liked the drawing only with the simple and repetitive details provided by the lines in the figure and in the background. I wanted to duplicate it and have both versions.

En este punto tuve mis dudas de agregarle color, la verdad me gustó el dibujo únicamente con los detalles simples y repetitivos que le aportaron las lineas tanto en la figura como en el fondo. Quería duplicarlo y tener las dos versiones.

But the idea was to continue with the design and add more details and complexity, i didn't want it to end up being just a sketch. Something that i found peculiar was that as i kept complicating things with ink and more ink, my creature went from being peaceful and serene to having this malevolent and calculating expression. It reminded me of politicians, as this peculiar mudra is used by world leaders when they go to appear in front of large crowds for obvious reasons.

Pero la idea era continuar con el diseño y agregarle mas detalles y complejidad, no quería que terminara siendo sólo un boceto. Algo que me pareció peculiar fue que a medida que fuí complicando las cosas con la tinta y mas tinta, mi criatura pasó de ser pacífica y serena a tener esta expresión malévola y calculadora. Me recordó a los políticos, pues este mudra tan peculiar es muy usado por líderes mundiales cuando van a presentarse ante grandes masas por obvias razones.

I only chose a few tones for the color details, a turquoise and neon green for the accessories and lines surrounding the creature. For the eyes i used a water colored alcohol marker, for the skin a tone like ochre, orange and a neon green.

Sólo escogí pocos tonos para los detalles a color, un turquesa y verde neon para los accesorios y líneas que rodean a la criatura. Para los ojos usé un marcador de alcohol color agua, para la piel un tono como ocre,naranja y un verde neón.

Finally, my quantum creature, peaceful and malevolent at the same time, turned out better than i expected... I don't know if it will fight against the forces of evil or good, that wasn't clear to me but i liked how those colored details on the darkness turned out, very matrix-like. I already want to know what will come up on the next page.

Finalmente mi criatura cuántica, pacífica y malévola a la vez resultó mejor de lo que esperaba... No sé si luchará contra las fuerzas del mal o del bien, eso no me quedó claro pero me gustó cómo quedaron esos detalles a color sobre la oscuridad, muy a lo matrix. Ya quiero saber qué surgirá en la próxima página.
