Usually, the very mention of death makes us tremble. We think of death as the end of everything, a vast darkness. But recently, I watched a video by Brother Eli on ‘The Old Path’ channel, and my old idea was completely shaken. The title of the video was “Why do people die?. To be honest, I had never thought of death in such a positive way before. The explanation given in the video of the Bible verse Isaiah surprised me. It says that many times when righteous people die, we grieve, but in fact God takes them to Himself to protect them from some great danger or suffering ahead. Just think, what is extremely sad for us, may be a kind of supreme compassion or security for God for His beloved servant.
While watching the video, I saved knowing how helpless we are as people. Even though we think we are very robust, we're completely helpless in the face of dying. Brother Eli superbly used Deuteronomy to expose that lifestyles and loss of life are the two keys in God’s fingers. This teaches us that we are right here on this planet for a specific time and that each breath we take is a gift from Him.
The biggest lesson I learned from this video is preparation. Death is not meant to scare us, but to make us aware. Since we don’t know when our time will end, we should love each other more and follow the right path. I especially feel the importance of spending time with family members and guiding our children on the right path. This video basically taught me that we should not consider death as a curse, but rather accept it as an extreme reality of life,e and try to be a good person from today. When we know that we have to go back, we naturally try to stay away from wrongdoing.
