How are you? I recently had the opportunity to watch a video on the "old path" channel, titled "regaining the love of parents". This short video of about 7 minutes has brought a huge change in my thinking. It is a very necessary guideline, especially for those who have had a slight misunderstanding or distance in their families.
The main point of the video is that character and behavior are the main tools to win people's hearts. The speaker has presented some historical contexts from the Bible very well. I was especially surprised by the example given of the relationship between Prophet Jacob (AS) and his brother Esau. Our current generation has a lot to learn from the way Jacob (AS) erased his brother's long-standing resentment through humility and gifts.
The most powerful part of the video for me was when it was said, "Start doing the opposite of the things that make your parents suffer or dislike you." That is, if they are annoyed by something you do, you should show them extra care, love, and respect instead of holding on to that stubbornness. The video quotes the apostle Paul as saying that to win people's hearts, you have to adapt to the situation and use wisdom.
Finally, the importance given to prayer in the video is really touching. Not only your own efforts are not enough, but praying to God for your parents to change their minds is equally important.
