This week ends differently… New coffee, new place and a birthday boy on the horizon.
Well, this weekend really started rather differently. It’s already Sunday and I’m still working on my CCC post. The thing is, that my little boy is not anymore so little as he has a birthday today. He becomes 1 year old and we decided to travel and enjoy a weekend away from home.
So, Saturday morning was dedicated for some baggage packing. There was no time for a peaceful and calm coffee drinking.
Although the little one was playing relatively calm, we still had like a thousand things to prepare and we were really hoping that we won’t miss or forget to prepare something. The tough part is that my wife decided to make the cake in the house where we were going to celebrate the birthday and also we had to arrange all of our foods and dishes for two days stay.
Meanwhile we enjoyed cups of V60 coffee, but really it was almost entirely drunk while dealing with the tasks before our leaving.
This week it’s Ethiopia Wonago. I’ve had this coffee several times before and it’s really one of my favorites. It’s a typical red label coffee, prepared and baked by the Dabov team, and blends very fresh fruitful flavors.
This coffee is from the Heirloom variety. Heirloom is a typical and regional Ethiopian variety of coffee and Heirloom was originally an umbrella term for all the different Ethiopian varieties of coffee, which were estimated to be between 6 and 10 thousand, each one of them with some different distinct characteristics. When I learned that fact I was literally blown away, because 10 000 is a lot!
I decided to take some artistic photos meanwhile and enjoy this beautiful nice bubbling while my coffee was brewing in the V60 filtering cone.
The color of course is brilliant. I love how these light roasted coffee beans look when brewed. There is some special brilliance in brewed coffee. And on top of that this light roasting doesn’t give the coffee harsh and unpleasant flavors. It’s a pure enjoyment.
Let’s go back to the main topic which is our traveling preparation. I decided not to bring my coffee equipment and buy some cheaper coffee. Knowing that the house has an espresso machine, I picked one of our favorite coffees before we started ordering Specialty coffee - Jacobs Barista Editions.
There are two types of it here in Bulgaria - classic taste and rich taste. We always picked the classical one being more aromatic and flavorful than the rich one which was a bit overbaked.
Although we are in the rented village house now, we haven’t drunk coffee yet, so I really cannot share my opinion about this Jacobs coffee. I hope it’s gonna be nice and enjoyable.
And before my post ends, I’ll share the happiness of the birthday boy. He really likes the place and all the green fields surrounding this guest house. And the nature here is really beautiful during the spring - fresh and full of life. We also had a “guest” around the pool when we arrived.
Now, it’s really time to end the post and make some Jacobs espresso. And then the celebration of the little big boy will gonna be arranged.
See you soon and have a nice weekend!
Bye!
