Saturday, saturday… The morning is gloomy and the start of the day doesn’t seem so brightful. Luckily there is always some specialty coffee at out home that brings some joy every time.
In my recent deliveries i was forced (just by a little bit) to buy a new espresso shot. I thought that the free delivery comes after tou made at least 60 BGN (about 35$), but they have increased this number to 75 BGN without a notice from my side. I was about 5 BGN short of the free delivery, so i decided it was a great opportunity to buy this simple espresso shot, that cost about 6 BGN (3,5$). I never thought that this type of purchase could possibly bring ao much joy to my coffee drinking experience.
I start being imptient about the next espresso shot right when the previous one is gone… It really feels like a strong addiction! 😁
And I think that this espresso shot really looks great on photos. I like looking the crema gradually forming. The little bubbles dance in the body, gently reaching the head and forming the perfect espresso. I only need somebody to come and take some shots for a fancy magazine!
But let’s see how the phrase “Sharing is caring” relates with my coffee experience lately…
About two weeks ago I found a great deal about this coffee in the Dabov online store. I was still in the bed when the 45% discount hit me in the face and woke me up faster than usual. It turned out, that Mr Dabov had some roasted coffee that was sitting on the shelves of the warehouse longer than expected and this was the way to refresh their products quickly.
The coffee was roasted in the beginning of January, and it is very unusual for the company to keep products that were roasted before that much time. All my deliveries were of a coffee not older than 2 or 3 weeks. Of course, I was not worried about the quality of the coffee. When it’s sealed and stored properly, there won’t be any concern about the taste of the beans. After all I bought 1 kg of specialty coffee beans for about $35. Now that is a real bargain!
I always store the opened beans airtight, to the possible extent and enjoy them in the following weeks. This time I decided to bring some beans to the owner of Specialty Place 23 where we like to spend time. He occasionally offers us some limited coffee varieties, or something that cannot be bought at stores and he never charges us on that. A jar of 50 grams of coffee really won’t harm us. I think he already gave us a lot more than that.
His feedback was that this coffee was a bit too chocolate flavored for his preferences, but his girlfriend liked it a lot. This coffee is a blend that has a tiny bit of anaerobic coffee included in the bill, so it has some distonctive notes in the flavor, alongside with the classical coffee flavors.
The story continues about three days later. The owner of the coffee shop posted two varieties of anaerobically processed coffee, that he has recently received. They were roasted from a guy in Czech Republic and seemed very exclussive. A coffee that I would probably never be able to purchace. Of course the next day when I went to deal with some of my daily tasks I decided to visit the Specialty Place and try the Espresso targered variety. It was great. Sour, but not excessively, very fruitful and complex.
The owner presented me the other one too. “Come, see what you will be able to find in the aroma!”…
I never had such a great experience when just smelling a coffee. It felt like some tropical fruits to me. I remembered our trip to Thailand and the speciffic aroma of the Jackfruit. Some honey sweetness accompanied the aroma. The owner of the cafe told me that I was very close to the described aromas on the box. Tropical fruits, honey and white peach. I desperately wanted to try this one and guess what… I left the coffee shop with 20 grams of these beans!
I brewed it the next morning and it turned out really special and distinctive. My wife didn’t really like this, but I enjoyed it a lot!
I’m really happy to have this coffee shop around and of course its owner. With this type of coffee sharing we really have the ability to try a wode variety of coffee beans, and he always presents the finest and funkiest ones to me. I’m the type of coffee lover that always tries to find an alternative and interesting taste in coffee and the last months I managed to taste a lot of different and new to me flavors.
The ocean of world coffee varieties is so deep and seems infinite and I’m happy to be a part of this journey every single day.
