Seaside vacation in Chernomorets, Bulgaria. First part - beaches and restaurants.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we visited the seaside, but I didn’t find time to write about it until now. Last weeks were very busy with a lot of work travels and very limited time to be active in Hive. But now, let’s have a look at our short weekend trip.

We decided to book a hotel in Chernomorets, which is about half an hour away from Burgas and 10 minutes from Sozopol. Actually our initial idea was to stay in Sozopol, but prices in Chernomorets were a lot cheaper and we chose the budget variant for our vacation. Actually this is not a big deal around these places, because if you want to enjoy some good beaches, you have to travel with your car around to the nearby campings.

First day we visited the Chernomorets camping, which is actually accessible without a car, if you booked a property in the town. The beach there is not that big. It’s a very narrow and short beach and in the afternoon you get nice shade from the trees on the edge of the sand.

My wife found a very nice rock which was a bit difficult to climb, but it promised some pretty nice photos. Luckily she managed to climb on it and pose over it.

The evening soon came and we found a very fancy looking restaurant. Fortunately, they found us a table for two in the garden. Although the temperatures were very high during the day, this place was very fresh in the evening.

One great aspect of this exact place - the menu was actually written on the eating pads. This way it was very easy for everyone to read it and have it anytime it was needed for some additional orders. It’s the first time I experienced this kind of decision and it works out very conveniently.

We started with a Greek salad and some appetizer with some bread. Of course with the vegetables there is unwritten rule that some Rakia (local grape, plum or other fruits brandy) has to be ordered. Usually in every restaurant there is a great variety of different Rakia and it’s only up to your taste which one will you choose.

The salad was quite fresh and the appetizer soon was over. Everything was great until now. It was time for some main dish. And because we were on the seaside, what a better time to enjoy some local fish. We asked the waiter which was the freshest, and he told us that the Trachurus fish was caught just today by the local fishermen. So that was our choice!

Well, apart from the fish I ordered a plate of homemade potatoes with grated cheese on top. You would say something here is missing… yup, a refreshing beer! And this rounded up the meal perfectly. I have to say the fish was really tasty and the potatoes were great as well.

For all of this we payed about 35$ which is very affordable and for such a tasty dinner we were more than happy. Now we needed some rest before we headed towards another beach on the next day.

We chose to visit Kavatsite Camping where the beach is a lot bigger than the one we visited the previous day. The sea was much more calm as well and we enjoyed quite a peaceful swim in the waters of Black Sea.

Luckily there are some shops nearby where you can buy some cheap soft drinks, beer or ice cream if you want. During one of my walks toward the supermarket I found a very unexpected little fellow. I guess there are a lot of tortoises around the sand dunes. I wonder where they are getting water, because I don’t think they are going on n the sea water… or they may be sea turtles? I cannot be sure.

Before we left for our home, we visited one more beach that is relatively close to Chernomorets - Camping Gradina (garden) and we seem to have liked this beach the most. The sand was even finer and the beach was wider and longer. We cannot have been happier with such a beautiful scenery around. Many Bulgarians tend to visit Greece for a seaside vacations, but I really think that here in Bulgaria we have nice beaches and resorts too.
