September is the first month where heavy rainfall will last until December. Floods everywhere and everyone is racing against time to do activities outside before the rain comes in the afternoon. Like today, my routine after returning from teaching and taking a short break actually wanted to cook, but because I saw the clouds were very dark indicating that it would rain again while it was still 3:00 p.m. I had to quickly prepare to pick some vegetables that I would manage later tonight until tomorrow so that I would not be caught first by the rain that I don't know when it will come and go.
And let's follow me to harvest some vegetables in my mini garden beside the house, because we don't have a big yard so we use the existing yard for gardening, there are some plants from my garden that are waiting to be harvested in a while like my papaya fruit and there are also plants that are ready to be harvested. And now I will show you all the plants that I have successfully harvested
This is my papaya, because it is still unripe so I haven't harvested it yet
1. Pagoda Mustard Greens (Ta Ke Chai)
The Pagoda Mustard Greens that I harvested are 2 months old. I planted this mustard greens using polybags and only for my own consumption so I did not use chemical fertilizers to fertilize the soil and green the leaves. To make this mustard greens pest-free, I used a soaking solution of red onion skins that I had soaked for several days, then I sprayed it all over the mustard greens so that no caterpillars would stick, so this mustard greens are very suitable for salad, juice or processed with your own recipes.
2. Eggplant
Unlike mustard greens that have to be cared for and looked after, the eggplant that I planted does not require any care and it grows very well, it's just that I have to be diligent in harvesting it because if the eggplant that has turned yellow is not harvested, the eggplant plant will quickly become damaged.
3. Mango
The type of mango that I harvest is the Tongdam mango, which is the newest variety of mango in my city that has thick flesh, does not have much fruit fiber and has thin seeds, it tastes very sweet even when it is still raw. And the mangoes that I harvest are already old, I just have to leave them for a few days to ripen by themselves, if I let them ripen on the tree the birds will precede me to taste them.
4. Basil Leaves
I use these basil leaves to sauté fish or chicken, so that the broth tastes more fragrant and these basil leaves are also very tasty if eaten raw for vegetables. Then these basil flower seeds can also be made into a fresh drink without color and the shape is like Chia Seeds
5. Kasturi Orange
Compared to Lemon, this orange has a sharper aroma, but its size is very small, in my city, Kasturi orange is not only used for drinks and chili sauce, this orange can also remove the fishy taste from fish and other meat.
My harvest I have shown to all of you today, I hope you like it and this is my daily refreshment after work. Greetings to everyone in this community, I hope you are always healthy. Thank you for viewing my post. Greetings from maytom, Indonesia
