You know, the easiest thing about life is playing by the rules. I mean, you can decide to do that. Or not.

The difficult thing, however, is working out what the rules are. Until you have those suckers nailed, you don't really have much control over your own destiny.

This clumsy introduction kind of sums up where I am with Steemit. I have been led here by an online acquaintance, completely out of the blue. I made a throwaway post in Zuckerberg's house ("I am not sure I sit down any more. I kind of do this thing now where I bend my knees and left gravity take its course."), and said virtual friend asked me if I had heard of Steemit.

Some Googling and a Skype chat (his friend status upgrades from virtual to real life) later, I find myself at the bottom of Mount Crypto.

And now I need to work out what the hell I am doing here, and how I can adapt to fit in.

It is both daunting and fascinating, and my real challenge - as ever - is with myself. Will I persist through the inevitable slow start? Will I avoid petty, snarky exchanges? Will the fact that as I get older, I look to avoid things that I don't understand trip me up? Again?

To be frank, I haven't got a clue.

It's going to be interesting to find out, though.

See you around.

Maybe.
