Hello everyone, how are you all today? i hope everyone is having a great day. Today i made a new digital portrait painting.
its a painting of a girl wearing blue. there isn't anything special in this drawing, i just wanted to make a simpler one and therefore this was made.
let me know your thoughts on the drawing...
here are some process shots and some description:
obviously i start with a sketch, usually i would start with a circle and then use the loomis method to build a head around it. but i have drawn so much 3/4 view of heads that it feels much more natural if i just draw and adjust things if necessary.
but i do use some lines if they are necessary like to make sure the horizontal lines of the eyes, nose and the lips is properly drawn.
since this was one of those quick method drawing, i didn't bother making a separate lineart for this. i just started drawing with the messy sketch because as i draw i will fix and erase stuff, its more fun to draw this way.
i found that if i start with a very clean and good looking lineart instead of a messy sketch i get scared to make bold choices and changes to the drawing in case i ruin it. that i don't have to worry about when i do this.
as you can see i loosely put the skin color, some places didn't even get proper coloring, and then started painting the hair, i did this so i can erase extra hair out of the face. its easier to draw the whole hair on one layer instead of multiple layers.
at this point the started to look good enough that i was satisfied with it. i will make more changes later.
then i start with the face, quickly put some colors on the eyes nose and the lips and blend wherever some blending is necessary.
then i start working on the hat. if you look at the process shots you will see that i often forget about the ears, i still haven't worked on that probably because i forgot completely.
and now i draw the dress. i am not very good at drawing cloths yet. so i do what everyone does when they don't know how draw something, put a bunch of weird shapes so it looks like something.
i started putting some more highlights at this point and started ear as well.
after this i will add those colorful details that you can see in the final drawing.
and thus the drawing was done.
