●I really do not understand what people term "situationships". There is no scriptural excuse for situations of infidelity. Marriage is a room where you are one and you are meant to place the feelings of your spouse above yours.
That way,you will always put yourself in thier shoes before acting.
If a situation arises and you notice that someone is making advances that may
likely lead you to sexual sin in the long run, tell your spouse early.
Your spouse is your confidant and marital problems are best handled as a duo.
It has been noticed that men are usually the bottles in marriage that swallow up secrets and refuse to confide in their wives because they feel they can handle it.
This will in most cases lead to self realisation in the arms of another woman.
No marriage works without trust, build trust, share secrets, problems and solutions.
Share everything with your spouse, you are one.Share the good bad and ugly. Communicate
● The last and most common cause of cheating especially in Nigeria is mentality.
I was discussing with a group of friends when the question was popped up.
"If your husband cheats on you, what will you do?"
My first friend all answered that she will still stay in the marriage and endure.
The second said it depends on the number of times the man cheats, that she will give benefit of doubts for two times before thinking of divorce.
The third said she will stay because of the children, that it will be selfish of her as a mother to take the children away from the father because children are better trained togethger.
When it got to my turn,I smiled and said, I can't stay, the moment a man cheats on me,so many things have been broken.
The love, the trust, the respect, the excitement and the fun.
They all argued about what our parents endured and how many times our parents cheated on thier mothers and all.
Mentality!,I exclaimed. It's about your mentality. The only condition in the bible permitted for divorce is infidelity,to show you the magnamity of sex.You are not married until you cleave with your wife and cleaving is in the act of sex.
The probem is the mentality we have in the African society. Where if you walk out of a marriage or you are divorced they make the lady feel like she can't keep a home.
The problem is that the blame always goes back to the women and this is why men feel they gave the right and opportunity.
Afterall, the highest she will do is to cry,she can't leave me,we make them feel.
We make them feel like we are caged to them and reason some men take undue advantage.
The African society makes men feel like lords and women like subjects.
They make marriage sound like an achievement whether it is good or bad and that the man is doinf the woman a favour by marrying her.
This is all as a result of our mentality and as such every typic African girl feels she can't do otherwise.
I am an African woman and I know my worth.I won't settle for less and I won't let anyone treat me less
With all my talk, they kept arguing on why I should stay and I asked them a question
"If your husband raises up his hand to beat you will you stay in the marriage?"
They all shouted NO asking if I wanted them to be beaten to death.
"Then why would you stay if he cheats on you?", I asked again.
If you can run for your dear life when it's just physical beating, then why would you kill yourself by staying when it is emotional beating?
Cheating is the worst form of emotional beating.
If only you know how much sex means to God,the sciptural implications and how painful it is to the other individual, you wouldn't want to try infidelity.
JOHN 4:I8
Let me end by saying that the rate of cheating in marriage will reduce if every partner goes in respecting their matrimonial vows and knowing that the moment he or she cheats, the other partner leaves.
