Imagine finding something you think is a worm, only to find that it's a snake upon closer inspection.
That's what happened when I put some food for the cat in an old tuna can and found some critter feeding from it. Using my 18-55mm kit lens as a macro by reversing it, I put the snake on some butter paper and tried a photo with some light from behind.
I figured this was the head. Still trying to get the best lighting conditions while keeping it steady by hand for the best focus.
You can see it here next to a micro sim for scale.
Another one, micro-sim for scale while it was moving about. I had a secondary source of light as we can see a strong shadow under the critter.
I can't figure out which particular type of blind snake this is, but I suspect it is a Brahminy Blind snake. It feeds on termites, ants, and other small animals along with their eggs and larvae.
Got a shaky one with the tongue out! Noticed whenever I got closer to it with the equipment, the snake would start to investigate. I did not see the tongue until I went through the photos on the computer.
Another one with the flash plus bright light (LED torch)
