To not beat around the bush, I will love to share a few tips that will help you as a student, these are ones that are tested and trusted, at least they helped me navigate my way through school.
As a student, your certificate alone is never enough. Certificate is good, but it is also important for you to have a skill, as that skill you have will give a leverage. I as a person learnt tiling even before gaining admission into the higher institution, it was as a result of some health issues I had to let it go, and while in school I took up graphic based customization works. I began to do frames, mugs, throw pillows and various things. It wasn't easy, but sincerely it helped me, it help me support myself and reduced the burden on my already retired dad and petty trader mum. So, if you're a student, learn a skill, it's not too early neither is it too late.
Another thing you need as a student is to take your studies seriously, make sure to be very consistent with reading. You don't need to wait until you have your exam timetable before you begin to prepare. Set a reading time table for yourself, even if it's just for few minutes each day, make sure to stick to it. Little progress is still progress.
Also, as a student you need to be careful of people you keep close to you, I mean friends. Not everyone laughing with you mean well for you, not everyone wants to grow, so be careful of who you call friends, move with and all. Your circle should be of those who really want to grow, add value to you, those who respect you, assist you, encourage you and will protect you behind your back. The right association rally matters.
In conclusion, I will like to add this, money management. Money management is something every student musk know and learn. Either it is that which you get from home, or the one you work for yourself, it is very important to be disciplined in your spending, you don't have to be so rich/wealthy to know and learn financial management, start with that little, plan and manage it well now and you will find out it will help you handle much later when you're big/have more.
