I'm trying to imagine a world like this; it sounds funny, though, you know... I mean a world where you have to go around with a VR wherever you go. No matter where you're going to work, to school, to a restaurant, to a wedding/naming/burial ceremony, or even when you're in the comfort of your home, you're always having a VR on you. Technology is doing greatly well, and we're grateful for it, but then, how does this actually sound?
For me it is not a bad idea, but then it shouldn't be a part of our everyday life. I mean, we could use it but limit its usage to certain places and times. For instance, while teaching a student in class about maybe the human body and all of that, it could come in handy as the students will see it very well, clearly, and in 3D at that, instead of having to see it in a textbook. Also, while teaching subjects like history too, students can get to see things while sitting right there in class; they can be seeing things in Egypt or in faraway places that could aid, enhance, and help their learning. And maybe it can come in handy at work too.
But like I said earlier, it shouldn't be a part of our everyday life and something we need to use and have on at all times. We have phones, and we see how deep we can be in it at times. Sometimes the person sitting next to us is telling us something, and we won't even hear them, not to mention that when we now have VRs on us, someone will just be talking to you and be unknown to the person you're in another place entirely, a virtual world at that.
Also, I say it shouldn't be a part of our everyday life again because over time, we would lose touch with ourselves. We won't get to experience life anymore; we won't want to bother going out, playing games, talking to people, and all of that. Our phones are already keeping us indoors; do you think VR wouldn't even do much worse?
But just like the phone and every other tech stuff, they're tools, and they should remain one; they shouldn't replace or control our lives. And that is why I said, "It is good, but it should be limited to certain places and in certain times." If it becomes a total part of our lives, believe me, we would forget what life actually feels like and looks like. If it gets to that extent where we can't put it down and it's a part of us, then we're no longer in control of technology; it means technology is now controlling us and we're now the ones serving it.
