There are some mornings just like this particular one where I find it hard to just get out of bed. Even though I have a lot of lined-up activities to engage in today, I still felt too reluctant to get up. A lot of things are going on, and none is in any way encouraging. And for a long while, writing has been my remedy, even though there are some emotions and feelings that I find it hard to put in words; even still, it is helping.
And as I was saying, I'd feel too reluctant to get up; even still, I would just look away and get up anyway. I'm sure in a few minutes time, the same will happen today as well. Back then, I'd remember how I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about the various things life has thrown at me and the situation of things at the moment, but most times I would wave it off, get up, do whatever I could, and make sure the day at least counts.
And there's something about most of us; we tend to not celebrate our small victories/little wins. What we love to celebrate are those things we really see and count as big, loud victories. Talk of promotion, housewarming, big awards, graduations, and all; we don't usually think much about our days of waiting, the days when we almost gave up and picked ourselves back up. We don't celebrate those days and times when we are alone and we are just our own motivation.
But then, we should learn to appreciate and celebrate ourselves too. Even the ones we count as the smallest. Haven't you seen people wishing they had made good use of an opportunity, or wished they had talked more, played more, and made more with someone they lost? That is how it is too; we don't need to procrastinate or wait for the biggest, loudest, or grandest times. Celebrate that little one too.
That is why I no longer pressure myself again, not as if I'm idle; nah, I'm doing my best and working towards a good future while making sure that each day counts. That is the responsibility I feel I now have and owe myself. To keep showing up, to keep learning, to unlearn, to relearn, and to not give up midway, while believing that greatness surely awaits me.
