This is a very deep one, but then we will go all in... For me, I feel parents shouldn't stop supporting and looking out for their children even when they're of age; the fact that the child is now above eighteen years of age and has graduated from school and all doesn't mean he/she's now financially stable to look out for himself/herself. Adulthood comes with a lot of responsibilities, and it is not always easy, especially in our own part of the world here; it is not easy. Even after you graduate, things still feel blurry and uncertain for you....

I'm not saying that parents should go all out and all in in taking care of such a person and helping him/her shoulder all of his/her responsibilities, nah. Our parents have their own lives too; they have things to do and sort out too. They as well have tried their best to get us educated and all, and they very much need to rest from all the ups and downs and start eating the fruits of their labors. So, it would be very unfair to say they should keep providing and supporting their children who are already of age and should already be standing on their own.

That being said, we all know it is not always easy. Lost youths today are still struggling to make ends meet, the ones who are educated but, like me, have dropped their CVs and countless organizations and have also applied for a lot of jobs, and still nothing is forthcoming... How do we become independent then? Who should we blame for it? Who should we depend on if not our parents? Some of us who even have one handwork or the other can also testify that it is still not so easy...

In my own opinion, I would say parents should definitely support their adult children, but only when necessary. And the kind of support should be one that would make them grow, establish them, and cause a change to their situation, not one that would make them always dependent on them. And adult children should do better too. I very well understand that it's not so easy; I'm, to some extent, at that point in life too, but then, we shouldn't become comfortable and relaxed depending on our parents when we can always do something for ourselves too.

We all are different; some are able to achieve their independence very fast, as they have a good chance to do it, and some of us don't have such opportunities, so there's the need to temper justice with mercy, give us some time, be patient with us, and support us.
