Most of us would agree that change is a fact of life. If I ask if the weather, a river or a mountain will always be the same, or if I ask if we will never change, again most will say no. our sensitivity to change is shown in our wishes that the world is different from what it is, we exist in a conflictive state where we intellectually understand that everything changes, and that everything good or bad happens, but emotionally we cling to the things that we like and push away things we don´t like, this creates suffering.
Sadly, the more effort we apply to make the world not change, the more suffering we experience because the world goes on its way, like it or not, in our need to escape change, we are like an animal caught in a net, the animal flutters With an effort to escape, which makes the net tighten more, or as an injection in the doctor, resistance, or hardening of the muscles in anticipation of pain, makes the pain worse, we can resist what be, but there is a cost for us and for others.
The change turns us into a series of levels, one is the existential challenge of which we and all things are transient, another is the rhythm of social change, when we stick to expectations about how the world should work and if it does not adjust To those expectations, we get upset and suffer, we try to resist.
Perhaps the most common resistance to reality is the actions (or not actions) of other people, we want people to act as we wish, not as they often do, we can see the actions of others as obstacles to our well-being, and with the same frequency we seek to control them, but people do not like to be controlled and put up with resistance, making everything worse, controlling others is unpleasant and disrespectful.
Those of us who seek greater inner peace, we must accept the change, and one of the keys of this is to be in the present moment, that allows us to remain with problematic thoughts, emotions and even actions, and not try to move them away, to be in the moment present allows us to understand everything we experience and control the useless reactions, simply observe and not make judgments about the reactions, observe, but not cling to the reaction we have.
Most of us know that not all changes are created equal. the fact that everything is different doesn´t mean that something has changed, it depends on the level at which we examine the problem. Accepting change is part of the path to inner peace, accepting that nothing lasts, is not good and isn´t bad, and there is nothing we can do about it, our efforts of resistance to retain the good and to ward off the bad are useless, they provide only the momentary illusion of success, we simply cann´t be attached to the action or the result, no matter how much energy we put into our effort.
