Sakura, sakura. In the Tokyo region, cherry trees bloom in February. Up here in the north, this happens three months later. But the subspecies could be different.
My daughter who seems to know a lot about all manner of Oriental things told me that cherries are not eaten in Japan. She thought it was because Japanese cherries are small and bitter. Our cherries are large and sweet. The flower, however, is an ingredient in some Japanese dishes.
Our cat prefers to sleep in my daughter's bed. According to my daughter, the cat is most welcome there.
