Hey friends, how are you, the week starts with the joy of carnival, many of us wait for these days and enjoy them with joy, these are days when wearing a mask is something normal, you can be whoever you want without fear of what people will say, however far from these costume parties people face fears, insecurities, problems in our real life.

I was running errands in the capital of my state when it caught my attention that some girls were walking down the boulevard very colorful, smiling, they seemed to have camaraderie between them, they were sharing that special moment, they both wore masks and one of them a wig that made her look flashy. I was excited to see them because it's amazing how that visual perception is so contagious.

It turns out that they were colleagues, teachers, who were going to a parade in another community, I even asked them to take a picture and they happily agreed, then I said goodbye to them and I was left remembering old times with my husband who accompanied me.Reflecting a little the mere fact of putting on a mask generates an effect of power and security in the wearer, they are minutes, hours, in which you play at being someone else.

That is why carnival parties are so popular, they are entertaining, they feed visual perception, humor, ego, sharing, there are endless emotions, just waiting for candy to be thrown puts you in expectation, maybe you only catch one among so many children, adults, but they are moments of emotion. carnival feeds your fantasies and allows your dreams to come to the surface.

Surely you have heard the famous phrase: I already have my costume on! an irony to allude to the fact that you do not need to disguise yourself to be who you want to be or who you already are, however the reality of life is that usually far from the carnival festivities we get to wear invisible masks and it is inevitable because we are humans who feel fear of being wrong, to be misunderstood, to be judged, to suffer, to take risks, among others.

Without realizing it we use these masks which become a shield against pain, we can be a long time without them in spaces where we feel comfortable, protected. Ohh sure reader friend you will say: But I don't need them, I am me everywhere! yes, it's good that you feel that way, but I am sure that at some point you have pretended something you don't feel, you have been uncomfortable, maybe even for a brief moment you lied. What I am trying to say is that we all at some point wear a mask to protect ourselves and that is not a sin.

Sin would be harming others in the process, extorting, hurting in love, disillusioning, using that mask for your darkest purposes, but if you use it to be happy without harming yourself that is fine, then be who you want to be. But the important thing is that this mask does not take over your life, it can become powerful because you give it to it, differentiating between fantasy and reality can be difficult if you get used to it.
