The Sumatran Elephant (Elephas Maximus) is stated in Indonesian Law No. 5 of 1990 on the Conservation of Biological Resources and Ecosystems as protected animal.
In addition, the World Conservation Institute (IUCN) categorizes elephants in the red list of critically endangered animals. This is caused by various things such as illegal logging activities, habitat fragmentation depreciation, and also by human - elephant conflict.
Raising awareness is the basic activity to develop community undestanding related to elephant conservation. This is should be awared by every sectors as this is also a global issue.
In this wi-fi era, raising awareness is easier to implement. We able to share various issues through social media in order to raise public awareness.
