A few days ago, I guess I exploded, after my long and exhaustive search for an illustration style that would define me, besides the one I already have, I just exploded. I decided to focus on who I am and my strengths and start working on them more to improve myself into what I am today.
Illustration
After thinking about leaving my style as is, I thought I'd start looking at what I was going to do, so I went on Pinterest and came across a picture of Sophia Lillis and she's an actress I love, so I looked at several images of her.
At the beginning of the illustration I didn't think about drawing her, I just thought when I saw her pictures, how beautiful she is.
But when I got to work I started to draw what I began to identify as her, then it was time for the color and I ended up defining that yes, it was her and it was her style but with skates, I have never seen her with skates.
And there she is, I think she is probably acting in the role of a teenager on a day when she does something different and she is publishing it in her networks.
The process
At this point in the illustration I was not completely clear on what I was going to do or who I was going to be. I thought it would be a girl or a guy, just leaning on a trash can, checking his cell phone.
At this point I was almost completely decided that it would be Sophia Lillis.
In order to define the tone of her skin, which is quite light and a bit pinkish, I have to put a darker color in the background so I can see it and define the parts I am going to color.
One of my favorite parts was doing the hair, it looks very cute in my opinion.
I want to point out that the clothes and accessories of the character, is a product of one of my pinterest boards, it's about outfits that I would like to use someday. And that's how many of the characters I illustrate look like, they always wear clothes that I would like to wear.
For the shirt, I'm happy to say that I did the stamping on a separate file and then attached it to my girl, and it's a technique I will continue to implement, I find it interesting and it gives a nice effect. That's what my comeback is all about, targeting my strengths.
At this point I just wanted to stop and look at the face of my creation, which I found very cute and was happy to see.
I want to tell you that basically my process is always the same.
- Skeleton or idea
- General outline
- Lines of truth
- I start defining each part of the character with color, in different layers, with crayon effect brushes.
- In other layers I define shadows and details
I hope you like it, I will try to vary a little in my content, I guess it has to do a lot with my mood. I really liked this illustration so I'm happy to show it to you. Thanks for being here and see you next time with more content.
