The initial brief was to design a small shelter with a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom, the necessary to allow mountaineers to resume their ascent started the day before.

The architects' proposal was to construct, through planes and angles, a structure that provides an entrance through its folds and external views through its cuts. Built around a central core of services, the outer shape and inner volume are defined by the "folds". At one end of the design is the bedroom, with a storage room for mountaineering equipment. The other end has a seating area where the nearby mountain catches the eye to the panoramic view. The outer shell consists of pine, metal elements and bay windows that fulfill both structural and volumetric functions. The refuge is elevated from the ground, it is also ventilated on all sides; the updraft of the mountain provides a flow of air through a series of dedicated openings.

This is the point of arrival and departure of the mountaineer's treks. It's not just a gazebo and shelter, but a special place for contemplation and relaxation.
