Stinessen Arkitektur has completed the design of Malangen Retreat, a group of accommodation units located in Tromsø, Norway. The cabins are located on the ridge of a fjord and not far from a lush forest.
Guests wanted to enjoy maximum privacy, while being able to receive guests during the weekend. The main residence and the annex are each composed of two sections. The main part hosts the entrance, the children's room and a small secondary living room in the first unit, while the bathroom and the master bedroom have been placed in the second unit. The annex hosts guest rooms, with a laundry room and a relaxation area with sauna directly exposed to the outside view. A dedicated exit from the kitchen leads to the south-facing outdoor area where the family can enjoy their dinners during the hot summer days. All individual cabins are coated with cedar panels and treated with iron sulphate. Large expanses of glass create a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape.
