A trip to Strandir, Iceland

Strandir (translated as "beaches") or Strandasýsla is an area located on the westfjords of Iceland. The biggest town there is called Hólmavík but there are few very small towns in the neighborhood (on the road from Reykjavik only two).

It takes only little less then 4 hours to drive from Reykjavik to Hólmavík if you drive on 90km speed all the way. I went there to attend my friends wedding with my family and some other good friends and we stayed for almost a week time on the camping site at Hólmavík before and after the wedding.

I took a lot of photos while traveling there and I´m going to tell you a little bit about the trip and the landscape in Strandir but in chapters as I work through my photos. I already posted three photos, two from the old herring factory at Djúpavík and one foggy on the way ower there but it was a part of my day trips from Hólmavík.

I nowadays´s only take photos on my Samsung 7 edge phone and as seen on these photos there is no need for any filters as the colors in Iceland during summer are usually very bright and strong in good weather. But I also have a bunch of foggy photos which is also nice and goes a bit with the place as it is famous for black magic or mysteriousness. There is even a Black magic museum on Hólmavík but I don´t know if to recommend it as I haven´t gone inside it yet ;)

The first photo is taken on my way to Djúpavík and the second after midnight at the camping site in Hólmavík.
But more from my trip tomorrow (I hope). Sleep well until then…
