Grounding
It is early morning, the sun is barely showing its beautiful warmth. The grass is long and more a meadow than one of those English or American lawns cut so very short. Dew is hanging on every halm of grass. Here they are, the inhabitant of the old villa, all dressed in white. Their feet are bare and they are marching toward the lawn in unison.
Only sandals which can easily be slipped off are on their feet as soon as they have left the gravel path leading from the back veranda of the villa towards the meadow now bathing a bit in the sunlight.
Each droplet of water is glistening like it wants to compete with its neighbor. Not for long.
All the white-clad people are now taking off their sandals. They are moving as one as if they are following the cue of music. But the only music is the birds and the insects, awakening to their day of collecting nectar and bugs or whatever they happen to eat.
Shoes off, everyone steps onto the wet grass. Their bare feet are caressing the leaves of the weeds growing among the flowers and grasses. Off goes the group on their rounds.
One step after another, in the moist grass, circling the meadow. Connecting feet, naked skin with nature, with earth. Grounding each of them. Drawing their energy toward mother earth so they all can start their day happy and whole.
This kind of walking is a component of the Kneipp Therapy. My mom was always interested in learning more about health and Kneipp was part of our upbringing. I never thought about it much, but I guess I stepped into her footsteps with my interest in natural healing and the mind-body connection.
I will soon write an article on the Kneipp Therapy. In the meantime, enjoy this wikipedia entry.
