馃尭 The yama and niyama together help the practitioner to purify the organs of knowledge (jnanendriya) and organs of action (karmendriya). We have seen in the various seminars how these are closely related to the mind and, therefore, a purification of the organs of meaning and action is indispensable to calm the turbulence of the mind. The yama and niyama can be seen as the roots of the tree. Without strong roots the tree will be eradicated at the first wind of wind
