Technology has been around since the beginning of time. The very first technology ever were the stone tools and fast forward to the present we now have computers. The introduction of computers amazed many people and it was like transitioning from a bike to a car. It was something brand new and provided many capabilities that peaked the interests of billions. Many wanted to understand about computers so schools and universities offered courses that catered to this demand and is now the birth of Information Technology.
Now that a select number of people are more knowledgeable about computers they can finally apply their skills into the real world and contribute to the betterment of society. But how easy it would be if everything went smoothly right? Have you ever wondered sometimes what it was like to hack someone? I'm sure as kids, hackers in movies we watched were deemed as cool and we wanted to be as good as them. We sometimes get a thrill when doing something bad and that's why hacking is a glorified immoral action. It is important to take note that not all of us have the same morality, some wouldn't care if they were to create a crime using computers just because they can and for reasons unknown.
That's why in Information Technology it isn't always about teaching coding or determining the parts of the computer, it also guides us on the straight line of being morally good and use our knowledge for helping society. It teaches us the social, legal, and ethical issues we may encounter when pursuing a computer related career. If you could not easily identify these social and professional issues in the IT field, then a lot of people would be affected and could lead to economical loss. What's worse is private information might be leaked to the public, endangering that person.
